Art of the Garden Tour

experience a shady oasis in pasadena sunshine

Date:  Sunday, April 14, 2019

Time: 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

Location:  Self-Guided, LA Foothills

Ticket and Information:  Creative Arts Group

Each year, the Creative Arts Group curates tours of remarkable gardens in LA’s foothill communities. This year, the Art of the Garden Tour will showcase a fanciful contemporary garden in Pasadena.

A varied and vibrant front garden features the owners’ collection of rose bushes, wrapped in sun-loving native sages and succulents. Paths through the garden lead to a serene, shaded patio adjacent to the front doorstep.

The back, which began as a sun garden just a few years ago, is now a deeply shaded delight with several outdoor rooms to explore. The al fresco dining area sits center stage, with a table frequently set for meals of farm-fresh herbs and veggies from the adjacent edible garden. From the dining patio, this alumroot lined fire pit patio is just a short stroll, as is a lovely spa wrapped in a wall of candles.

Open to the public, the event will inform and educate those living in or near high-fire risk areas on how to modify or rebuild their homes with the most innovative Best Management Practices aimed at increasing fire resilience.

FormLA President Cassy Aoyagi will join a panel of experts in presenting practical and applicable modifications in building design, on-site water capture, vegetation and fuel management, and building resilient communities to increase fire safety and resiliency. Additionally, guests will be able to participate in an interactive Q&A session.

Space is limited, so please RSVP.
