It is rare to have a day without a client email or text delighting a bloom, bird, lizard, butterfly or deer who is visiting their garden. Our team members not only get to see the results of their work daily, they get to share in the delight they’ve made possible. It makes for great days!

While it’s our clients who predictably make our days, neighbors and passersby definitely contribute. People tend to overlook the typical lawn-filled landscapes between buildings – and the people that work to create and maintain them. Our gardens are just different. We ride to each job together in company branded trucks

November 2021. By Oscar Ortega: As a manager and as a team member, one of my favorite perks is team transportation. We look good when we roll up! It’s not all that common in the landscaping industry, and it makes a difference on several levels. Here’s why it feels important.

It evokes courtesy.

When we arrive on a job, our trucks set a tone for our interactions. They are clean and professional, and it helps clients and their neighbors understand us as experts and professionals. We see our new clean air vehicles further prompting respect.
 

Gas is covered.

As gas prices skyrocket, they are not hitting my team member paychecks. This is huge! And it isn’t just gas. Because we use FormLA Landscaping trucks to reach job sites, we save wear and tear on our personal vehicles.
 

Team members can use public transit.

Stable transportation can be a barrier to entry into the landscaping transportation, particularly for maintenance professionals who visit multiple gardens in a day. As long as a team member can reliably get to our offices, they do not need a car or a license. Metro, bus, bike or skateboard, we are all for alternative transit.
 

It’s more efficient.

We know we will all get to our next site at the same time. Because our team leaders know their gardens and stock each truck for the day, we also know all the tools we need will be there when we are. We are more effective, and there is much less stress as a result.
 

It’s pretty fun!

Let’s face it… driving through LA County every day could be really unfun. For us, it can actually be fantastic. There are some great story and joke tellers on the team, which makes for fun rides. Even on days where we are all a bit quiet, it really reduces one of the main stressors of maintenance work.

Team Health and Safety Is Essential to Us

November 2021. By Kirk Aoyagi: As we learned we would be allowed to work through Safer at Home in March 2020, we discussed what it would look like to keep one another safe and to feel good doing it. Providing PPE was one of the most basic requests fielded by the team, and it is fully in-line with our approach – we provide tools to ensure our team members can effectively and safely accomplish each task. Here are three of the reasons we provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to each member of our team.
 

We need to know you are safe.

We look out for one another. Many of our team members have worked together for decades, and we know one another’s families. We care about one another’s safety and feelings of safety – as it relates to pandemic and also our work in general. We also understand that our ability to work and provide for our families is interdependent. If one person is sick or injured, it impacts the whole team.
 

We can get it better and cheaper.

Securing PPE is easier for us than it is for an individual team member. Because we buy in bulk, we can get better PPE less expensively than our team members could on their own. This way, we can also ensure equity in our team members’ safety on the job.
 

We want you to have a life.

Our work takes creativity, know-how, diligence, sometimes physical stamina, and love. We need team members to bring all that to work – that means having a life outside of the garden. By providing PPE and other tools, we protect your personal time and energy.

LA County Public Health Covid-19 Safety Compliance Certificate, which confirms our adherence to the highest safety protocols in our operations.
