VALUED CUSTOMERS & FRIENDS+
It’s been quite a year! It kicked off with our heroes Bob Spears and Jim Walsworth earning congressional recognition for the Sierra Madre Post Offices Fire Defensive Demonstration Garden. It just closed with Cassy talking fire defense with Good Morning America.
That would be more than enough to have us fueled with hope. Yet, along the way, we had the pleasure of building dozens of LA-defending Zone 0s for homeowner-grantees of the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains. We worked with LA County Fire Department’s Forestry Division and Univision to build understanding of fire defense. The Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy’s extraordinary exhibit Living in a Wildlife Corridor beautifully illustrated the safest ways for our homes to sit in habitat.
We could not have had a fraction of this impact without our highly skilled, mission-driven, optimistic, dedicated and motivated FormLA team. As we head into the new year, we rededicate ourselves to our own ongoing growth as leaders and ensuring our team continues to FormLA Landscaping as one of Southern California’s Best Places to Work. We are really grateful for you, team!
We are deeply grateful for all the coaching, cheerleading, and joy this broader community has shared along the way. We wish you all a beautiful holiday season and deep and abiding hope as we head into the new year!
Sincerely,
Cassy and Kirk Aoyagi
Even as we enjoy the holiday season, we are looking forward to a 2024 in which LA is safer, shadier, and even more beautiful!

Good Morning America. By Stephanie Ebbs, Julia Jacobo, Daniel Manzo, and Ginger Zee: The types of plants situated around a home could determine the likelihood of whether a fire could reach and ignite the structure.
While any plants can burn, native shrubs and trees act like a defensive barrier, giving residents critical extra minutes to escape if fires approach too closely, experts said. See More

LA’s native plants thrive in drought – and rainy season. Non-natives may need a little extra care.
By Oscar Ortega: Many of those who tolerate drought become intolerant during high rains. Here is how we solve for the rainy season blues of common non-native plants. Get Tips

Tis the season for hummingbirds to rest their wings and begin nesting.
LA’s natural hummingbird feeders are Blooming Now, including Bladderpod, Brittlebush, Manzanita, Sugar Bush, and Woolly Blue Curls.
LA gardens also fill to the brim with berries in December, including Currants, Christmas Berry and Snowberry. We’ve even noticed a few Catalina Cherries – what a treat!
Thank you to our wonderful team.
