Blooms to Celebrate

We celebrate LA’s always-on blooms and those just arriving

December 2025. LA never stops blooming! During the holidays, LA gifts wildlife and other Angelenos even more blooms and berries. Here, we’ll celebrate those Blooming Now who often go uncelebrated while we focus on holiday flavor and decor in Christmas + Hanukkah + Silver+Gold colors.

A winter bloomer, Lilac Verbena ensures the garden always has something to delight pollinators.

Always-On: Seaside Daisy

Seaside seems to bloom throughout the year. In the hot, dry months when others are dormant and in the depths of rainy season, she appears to offer needed sustenance. These distinctive blooms become important habitat for pollinators and nectar-loving wildlife.

Even when it’s not in bloom, evergreen foliage with a succulent-like aesthetic makes a beautiful groundcover.

New Arrival: Manzanita

Like dancing jingle bells or layers of sweet snow, manzanita’s delicate blooms fill its architectural branches in the rainy season. They arrive just in time for hummingbird nesting season.

The drought-hearty foliage adds architectural greenery year round. Most manzanita varieties act like farm-to-table restaurants, switching from blooms to berries throughout the year.

New Fragrance: Lilac Verbena

Lilac Verbena blooms dance atop delicate stems. Lean into dancing De La Mina to catch her scent – more fragrant varieties like Paseo Rancho scent the air as they move with the breeze.

Lilac Verbena’s foliage can be a little drought-deciduous. With smart irrigation, it can feel as evergreen as Seaside Daisy and Manzanita.
