LA’s Valentines Bouquet Features Illuminating Yellow Blooms
February 2026. LA never stops blooming! In February she shows her love for us all with some particularly sunny flowers. Think of what’s Blooming Now as LA’s first smile, the meet-cute that kicks off her annual love-bombing of spring blooms.

New Arrivals: Flannel Bush (Fremontadendron)
Fremontadendron’s traffic-stopping smile comes in the form of bright and sunny palm-sized blooms. Depending upon her home and care, she can reach pretty extraordinary heights. We adore her protective qualities. She brings privacy – and a bit of prickle. She’ll reinforce your boundaries for you with the stellate hairs on her leaves.

Staying Power: Bush Sunflower, Bladderpod
Bees may tap away much of her pollen, yet if you deadhead a bit, the sunny disposition of Bush Sunflower blooms will hold strong through spring. Beyond her blooms, Bush Sunflower’s drought-hearty silver or true green foliage brings beauty year round. While drought-deciduous in the wild, smart irrigation keeps her 5-foot high and naturally round form enchanting.

When isn’t Bladderpod blooming? Have you ever visited without her offering seeds? She’s one of LA’s most hospitable habitats, a true hostess with the mostest. Her delicate, ever-silver leaves and woody architecture provide a compelling contrast with the low-growing, deep green, succulent-like foliage of Seaside Daisy at the Santa Monica Conservancy headquarters in Ocean Park.

Of course, our favorite option is to get outside to meet these beauties live and in-person – maybe in one of our demonstration gardens.
