Eagle Rock Oasis

A Desertscape Transforms to Highlight Spanish Architectural Charms

From the sidewalk, you’ll witness the Eagle Rock Oasis rise to present the home and garden as eye-level works of art. This painting you can enter! Indian Mallow blooms will likely ask for a dance as you travel up the colorfully tiled front walk, and friendly-faced Monkey Flowers will greet you as you rise.

The curb appeal grows as the native foliage establishes. While eye-catching itself, the greenery complements the home’s delightful Spanish architecture, deferring to it as the host for its garden party.

The space wasn’t always quite this welcoming. A mix of prickly cacti and agave once hosted their own dance party with a few undesirable characters (volunteer arson grasses, oh my!). If you look closely, we invited more than a few of the original cacti to stay for the current garden party. They just have a few more engaging friends now.

The transformed topography and bioswale help sink stormwater to keep the Oasis lush and lively through the heat of summer. They do a bit of public service as well – they refuel LA’s groundwater table and cool the air even as they beautify the property.

Entering the back garden feels like a simple moment. It marks a substantive transformation as well. Yet, the real fun begins as you enter the backyard.

Explore spaces full of life and play. While the homeowners prefer the mountain and the golf course, the garden offers a place to practice swings surrounded by fragrances from their favorite trails. A dip in the spa, delicious BBQ, and relaxing mescal by the fire pit are not the worst way to recover between adventures!

Some members of the family spend more active time in the garden. We like to think their deep enjoyment is a result of their engagement with our teams.

It’s essential all family members be considered during the design process. Some also enjoy engaging as we build.

Mr. Dudley played a critical role in translating design and construction plans into the garden you see today. We felt the achievement when he signed off with an appreciative paw mark.

Many of the holes dug for trees, foliage and even bioswales are what they are due to Mr. Dudley’s close inspection and collabaoration.

We see the homeowners’ adopted puppies enjoy the Dune Sedge meadow, their IdealMow match, with every visit. They tend to stash balls and other favorite toys throughout the space – play ready with a moment’s notice! And the spa? Maybe someday they’ll get a dip.

We’re excited to see what catches your eye or captures your heart! Join us in the Oasis Saturday, April 11th, 2026 for the Native Plant Garden Tour.
